All your advice is good. Four things I'd add: As well as just looking at the blood & clots, I recommend actually combing your fingers through everything that comes out. I once mc'd at 12 wks, and sifting through the clots I found a tiny sac with a 5 wk embryo the size of a pinky fingernail...
