I'm really considering attending AAMI. I'd like to hear from current, former and prospective students why you have choosen AAMI above other midwifery schools. How are you enjoying the course content? Are there any required texts or do you just rely on the texts you have? What about AAMI do you...
  • Virginia here...warm greetings!

I have been thinking long and hard on the midwifery field, and have recently come to the realization that it just feels right :) I have had 4 children, all were born healthy, and yet I felt like something was missing in the experience. After scouring the internet and reading threads and various websites...

you can go to mana.org or narm.org and follow their links to DEM programs. I did a self-study program, so i'm not the best person to ask, but I personally know people who did the Utah school of midwifery, ,and the one based in Maine. They all seem like very good options. The big issue with schools...

I too will be visiting the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery next month! It looks like an unbeatable program and I've chatted with some of their graduates and they all have excellent things to say about it! Yarra...Will you be attending their introducory meeting on the 25th?

Hello, I'm American and live in the US, but I may very well be moving to Australia in a few years. My boyfriend is from Melbourne and is here on a work visa. majikfaerie, I see you're a lay midwife. Are you able to practice legally?

  • Re: Exploring the field of midwifery

The Farm, yes. Florida School of Traditional Midwifery has a Midwifery Assistant program. So does International School of Midwifery. I'm sure there are others, too. I'm choosing DEM because I feel that midwifery and nursing are two separate fields. I have no interest in nursing. Also, I want...

Hi, everyone! My name is Jenni and I live in Baltimore, MD. I'm currently working toward DONA International certification as a birth doula. I'm also an aspiring midwife. Can anyone recommend a good DEM program (preferably MEAC-accredited)? Has anyone studied at Birthingway College of Midwifery...
