  • Re: Artificial Hymens: $38 for "Virginity Protection"

Oh my... I'm a bit confused as to how this all would "work", should I even ask? And is it meant to keep you truly "intact" as a woman, or to replace one that has been lost? Hehe, I am chucking a little as I write this, but maybe it's no laughing matter when put in cultural perspectives!   Mandi

  • Re: Persistant sleepiness in baby

I would suggest hand compression BEFORE putting baby to breast to get the milk flowing first.  Then I would strongly suggest she see an LC.  Sounds to me like there could be more going on.  By 1 month old if baby is still that sleepy it could be so many things it's hard to counsel via the internet. How's Mom doing lately? ...

  • Re: IUD's and Menstrual Cups

Thanks for the wisdom as always! That was kind of my first reaction too; that like anything else involving your yoni... be care-filled  (not careful... that makes it sound like you might need a hardhat to work in the area !!) Thanks for letting me problem-solve "out loud"...so-to-speak... -er... ummm... I guess it's just one ...

  • IUD's and Menstrual Cups

Hello wise women! I've been using my Diva Cup for a while now and really like it!  I just received my Paraguard 1 week ago, and AF is due anytime now.  Can I still use my cup?  I've read conflicting info. on the web.   For example the Diva Cup is NOT recommended for use with and IUD, but the Moon Cup says it's ...

  • Re: TODAY Show: The Perils of Midwifery

I enjoyed the part where homebirth was compared to a day at the spa.... as if it's a trendy thing to do.  Right...I forgot!  Babies have been born for thousands of years in hospitals, too posh to push is the norm, and these "radicals" are sacrificing safety to do something no one has ever done before all because ...

  • Mother's skin-to-skin "goodbye" saves her 20oz. baby

Hello ladies! I wasn't quite sure where this would fit best... interventions? wholistic care? maybe we need an "in the news" category... lol! .  I sure wish I could find the original source. blog article: Mother's Last Skin-to-Skin Goodbye Saves her 20oz Baby

  • Re: Reducing a cervical lip

Ugh... what a system.   Those midwives must really feel stuck between wanting to practice as they see fit but needing to please the hospital so they still have a place to practice.  We have that issue here...  only a handful of midwives, homebirthing illegal, no birthing "centers", only 2 hospitals and all the policies ...

  • Re: Umbilical Knots

I just attended my first birth as a doula... and was AMAZED to see a true knot in the cord!  What a doozy :)  Sounds like it can be pretty rare.
