  • Re: Working alone at births

It wasn't until Jan last year that i actually did a planned homebirth with a second in attendance!!  My second's have always arrived too late, or phoned to ask if they really had to come as they had things on at that time!  I've done a few with the ambo's seconding, and they are great to hand you stuff and write ...

  • Re: Is a Woman in Labor a Person?

Thanks for the warning!  But you're pulling my leg, ain't you!  This sort of stuff doesn't really happen?!  Excuse me while I go and say a prayer of thanks for living in little old New Zealand, where a woman can say 'no' and not lose her kids cos of it!!   I remember one of our charge midwives ...
  • Re: Umbilical Knots

I've seen about a dozen true knots, none have been in babies with any problems.  They have mostly been picked up while I'm checking out the placenta, just one of those things.  Velamentous insertions however, now they make me nervous.  Had a scary one years ago when the mum rang to say her waters had broken and they ...

Thanks April Working very hard on the chill part.  I know if I put it out to the universe it will happen when it's supposed to.  I'm working on surrendering it, but I can't help the nagging feeling that it'll be karma for the souls I said not yet too.  mama guilt huh?! The mix I'm on is made by a company ...

  • Re: US TV Homebirth Show TONIGHT June 16

I'm also glad to be a midwife not an actress! One of the births I attended was filmed for a DVD for parents to be, was supposed to be a lovely birth centre birth, no drips, no monitors, in the pool...  Instead, prolonged rupture of membranes, 36 hours of good strong labour and no progress past 5 cm, so a LSCS in the end!  And ...

  • Re: stuck breech

Thanks for the link Dawn.  That's a thoroughly sensible piece Mary has written.  And Her comment on havng the placenta fall onto the baby, I've had that very thng happen: on a birth stool, cephalic baby.  baby out, lifting up baby and placenta falls out ontop of her!!  Bit unusual...

  • Decreased eggs, hubby dragging heels, other than divorce, any suggestions?

Ok, have had a test doen to check my AMH levels, as the women in my family hit menopause quite early and I'm longing for another child.  Hubby says yes, but not yet..  The AMH levles showed that I have markedly reduced follicle reserves, not many eggs left (huge bummer as I'm only 37...) Now, here are my musings... Grandma and ...
