Thanks for posting the link, Jessica. The women at ICAN are very happy about this article coming out. Here's what I received today from the wonderful Gretchen Humphries. Please, let's all go to the story and bump up the viewings, make comments, and write out experiences. Thanks, Gloria
I am thrilled to announce that ICAN has been part of a major news
story in Time Magazine. The link to the online story is here:
the story will appear on the newsstands tomorrow. This is simply one
of the hugest things ICAN has ever had happen and dozens of people
gave sacrificially to make this happen. But it isn't over...
Here's what YOU can do to help us make the MOST of this exposure.
Go to the link and if you are going to forward it on to every single
person you have an email address for (I hope :-) then do it FROM the
TIME website -- this will rank this story higher, giving it greater
exposure. Wouldn't it be great if this story got listed as one of the
"top read stories"?
Make comments. Be smart -- tell your story or make your comment but
we all know how crazy some people appear in these comments -- so even
if the "but you should always listen to your doctor" comments make you
see red or you just want to smack that "I loved my c/s"
poster...don't. Even if they call you horrid names and accuse you of
loving an experience over your baby, be polite. Even if you see
"healthy baby" over and over and over...send them to my essay if you
need to (http://www.birthtruth.org/grateful.htm) but be nice. There
is such a bias against us already, we do not want to look like that
picture of the crazy granola mom who is self absorbed with her birth
experience. DO mention ICAN, put the link to our website in your
comments (we hope that this will help drive up our website ranking in
various search engines)
Now, we were told this wouldn't be out until later tonight...so we
don't quite have our stuff up on the website yet but we are working on
And, if people want to monitor the Time story, to make sure that as
comments cycle through, the comments on the front page (cause no one
looks past the front page) don't consist entirely of "I loved my c/s",
that would be fantastic.
