Can a midwife distribute birth control pills?

I wonder if it is okay for a midwife to distribute birth control pills. I know it sounds strange, but I think it's part of their job, right?

The rules/regs/laws vary.  In the states, it would have to be a certified nurse midwife (CNM).

I'm pretty sure that they'll fall under pharmaceuticals that need to be "signed off" by a doctor/ob.

Midwives in the UK actually are able to prescribe some medicines within a hospital setting, not sure what the remit is for independent midwives however.

The drugs that UK midwives can prescribe have to come from an approved list and that includes:

antiseptics, aperients, sedatives and analgesics, local anaesthetic, oxytocic prep and approved agents for maternal and neonatal resus.

    So, no birth control.

I agree though, it's all wrapped up in part of the same package as birth.

Not part of my job! I only teach NFP.
