    Midwifery Volunteerism in Developing Countries with Vicki Penwell, CPM in Asheville, NC!

    "This weekend intensive seminar will be taught by Vicki Penwell, CPM, who has worked extensively in poverty settings in Asia. Updated best-practices in maternity care for Asian, Africa, and Latin America will be shared. Classes will combine personal experience with the latest research from the international community working for Safe Motherhood and Newborn Survival, including WHO, UNICEF, USAID, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Lots of short videos from around the globe help cement the teachings.

    Approved for 13.5 Continuing Education Hours by MEAC and ACNM.

    Cost: Two months before the start date= $300
    Less than two months before=$350
    Participants are responsible for travel, food and lodging costs.

    Who will benefit: Midwives, nurses, doctors, childbirth educators and students with a desire to address the unique needs of poor mothers and babies in the developing world will find this seminar to be tremendously helpful. Focus is on updating skills you already have to fit situations of poverty, and to identify new best-practices in obstetrics worldwide."
