Painful gas after C. section, baby getting gassy along with mom

Hey ladies! I'm posting this with permission for someone else.

    Any ideas would be appreciated!

Since mother gave birth via csection 3 months ago, she has had terrible bouts of painful gas throughout her entire digestive system. She says she has never experienced anything so vile, how can I put this delicately? Hmmm, I cannot...it stinks up her entire house. She gets this way 4-5 times per week, and mainly at night.

She is not only worried about herself, but her daughter. She is breastfeeding, on the days she feels ill with gas so does her daughter.

We've already ruled out dietary habits. She doesnt consume dairy & hasnt made any dietary changes.

Her daughters belly gets bloated, and shows symptoms of colic.

Any ideas? She is too humiliated to ask her Dr.

Has she tried probiotics?  The antibiotics she would have been given at the birth would have disrupted both of their gut flora.

Are you sure it isn't dietary? Sounds like whatever mom is eating is passing through the breastmilk and affecting her babe too...

I was thinking probiotics as well. Sounds like some issues with their gut. MDC has an excellent forum discussing leaky gut syndrome. Quality probiotics for both of them, cod liver oil, along with continuing to play around with dietary changes (sometimes it can take up to a month before you notice any difference).
