Though Nepalese nurses through Midwifery Society of Nepal (www.midson.org) are struggling to bring a separate cadre of Professional Midwife in Nepal as per the manadate of the Ministry of Health and Population's National Policy on Skilled Birth Attendance 2006 it is a great pleasure and pride for us to be presented the Jhpiego International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Midwifery to Ms. Maiya Manandhar, Nursing Supervisor and National level Skilled Birth Attendance Trainer at the Maternity Hospital and Midwifery Society of Nepal's Joint Treasurer in a magnificent event, International Confederation of Midwives 29th Triennial Congress held in Durban, South Africa from 19-23 June, 2011, where more than 3000 participants across the globe comprised of midwives, representatives of donor agencies and Ministry of Health had attended .
